Been playing flattop in country bands in central NY for years, just starting to teach myself the mandolin, my ultimate goal is to play the fiddle. I plan on attending some of the upcoming jams or festivals which should be fun & helpful to me.

Enjoyed your site, CNYBA. We grow some pretty serious Bluegrass lovers down here in Amarillo, TX, and a lot of excellent pickers. We like our Bluegrass as high 'n lonesome and as pure and traditional as it comes. Any of you New Yorkers ever been down here to Mobeetie, TX to the annual Bluegrass Festival there? We thank the good Lord for Mr. Bill Monroe... King of Bluegrass!

Hi, folks-- Enjoyed your site! Looks like you have a bustling group. I'll be contacting one of your officers shortly regarding the Fiddlers' Jamboree to be held September 6,7,8 by our John Thurman Historical Society, in Athol, NY, a few minutes northwest of Lake George Village. Although we don't have camping onsite, we can refer those interested to nearby campgrounds, B & Bs and motels. Our website is underconstruction, but some details can be found on the events listing at www.thurman-ny.com. Y'all come! Perky

I made it to the Thousand Island Bluegrass Festival In June of 2002. I must say I sure had a great time. Didn't want to leave. I brought along my mandolin, an instrument that is new to me. I just bought it a week before. I brought it to get some pointers. This was my first bluegrass event so I didn't know many people. Before I knew it I was getting pointers from one of the greats. I ran into Dave Nichols from 3s Company, got some great pointers too. Thank you Dave! The folks were very nice, can't wait for the next festival. A great time for all. If you get the chance check out 3s Company, Excellent group!!!
