NEWS and TIDBITS for June, 2000

Happy Fathers Day to all -- and Congratulations to all who are graduating.

Our Festival date is drawing near and most of the preparations are complete--there are always last minute things. July 21 is the deadline for advance sale tickets, so send for yours soon. For those who haven't offered to help, PLEASE LET JOHN VAN DUSEN (315-252-0610) KNOW as soon as possible. Many hands lighten the load.

Also remember our fleamarket--contact Marion LaMont at 315-673-2329 if you want to rent a table to sell your "treasures". If you have a few things you would like to donate to the CNYBA tableplease let Marion know. Thanks.

Vendors and Craft people can contact Thomas Russell 315-673-1021 or Jerry Miller 315-487-6920. Our next festival meeting will be on June 12th at 7:00PM at the Sr. Citizen Rec. room, Hillview Terrace, Cato, NY -- all ideas are welcome.

It was wonderful seeing Dave Cleaveland and Mary Carr at our Warrior River Boys jamboree. Dave mentioned that Perry and Caren Cleaveland and the Delaney Brothers had entertained at the place where he is staying and the residents greatly enjoyed them. Also it was nice seeing Kay Betts and her sister at the jamboree.

Again, please remember to keep the following people in your prayers-- Mary Carr, Dave Cleaveland, Bob Hayden, and Bill Knowlton (loss of brother-in-law). Prayers and cards help make the day go better.

Congratulations to Jessica Mary Buck and Woodrow Bowman who were married on April 14th in Pennsylvania. We wish you much happiness.

The Memorial service/funeral for "Bud" Artlip was attended by many and the sounds of bluegrass music filled the church as he would have liked. His long-time friend Peter Carr prepared a tape for the occasion. "Things in Life" by Don Stover was very appropriate during the service.

It is with great sadness that Helen Weldon announced that she will no longer do the "Ramblin'" section of our newsletter. Hopefully if enough of you let her know how appreciated she is, maybe she will reconsider and begin again in September. Our "Ramblin" contains information about all of our members who chose to be remembered and it means a lot to be remembered, expecially during illness when a card or phone call will help
recovery. Please ask her to continue?

Stump Hollow will be playing on June 10 at Bluegrass on the Green in Homer; July 19 at Unity Hall, Barnveld, NY and also at CNYBA Festival on August 4-6. Del-Se-Nango Fiddlers will be having concerts at Music Haven, McDonough, NY (co Rt 5) on June 10, 17, 24; July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: August 5. Info: 607-834-6745.

September newsletter will share some new ideas with you concerning our monthly jamborees. If we continue to have poor attendance, we may have to discontinue them.

We were sorry to hear that Andre' Revutsky retired from the Homestead Bluegrass Band because of a heavy job commitment, but are pleased to hear that Homestead Bluegrass has a new member, Ed Harris fromWinston-Salem, NC who plays fiddle, mandolin and sings.

Please don't forget our festival (see festivals) and plan on participating in "open Mike" for Thursday night -- and if you know of any youth who would like to participate in our Talent contest, please sign them up.

Until next month------take care-----you are important.
