Congratulations to DELANEY BROTHERS BLUEGRASS for being awarded the Sammy Award for Best Entertainer at the Landmark Theater on February 1, 2002. Your band is most deserving of this award.
"Diamond" Joe Davoli was recognized as Bluegrass Instrumentalist/Singer.
Hal Casey, noted violinist, was also inducted into the Sammy Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Hal.
There was also an article in the Auburn paper concerning Joe Davoli giving a violin workshop to several people who were interested. This occurred at the Schweinfurth Memorial Arts Center at the Music/Performing Arts Series. Thank you Joe for keeping music alive through our youth.
We at CNYBA wish to thank Navy (of OneSong) for all the time and effort she freely gave us to provide us with a website. You gave us a presence - and we appreciate all that you did.

We are happy to have you as members of CNYBA!As reported by our Ace-Emcee, Vern Loucks, our bi-monthly Jamboree held at Orchard Vali Golf Course, LaFayette, NY, was a happy and huge success. The music by Delaney Brothers Bluegrass, OneSong, Andy Pawlenko and the Smokey Hollow Boys, and the Marcellus Pickers was most entertaining and enjoyable. The room was filled to capacity and the menu very generous. Thank you to everyone who made this a huge success.. A letter of special thanks will be sent to Orchard Vali for opening up their business special for us to have our February jamboree - ordinarily they would have been closed.

Ramblin' With Helen - Helen Weldon
Have you ever seen such changeable weather? Believe me, I'm not complaining, as am sure by now you all know that I don't enjoy winter weather. If those of you who have some influence over the "One who controls our weather, please ask for a nice day on March 9th, as that is the day scheduled for my move from an upstairs apartment to a downstairs one here in the complex. I'll give you my new address next month after I'm all moved in! Needless to say I have been very busy sorting, giving away and throwing away things I've accumulated the past 10 years since I moved here. Of course some were things that I moved here, and decided if I hadn,t used or looked at them in 10 years, I probably wouldn't the next 10, so they're gone! I've also made myself a promise, the next move will be done by someone other than me-this is my last.
Since my last visit, expressions of sympathy were sent to John and Joyce Rossbach on the loss of each of their fathers less than a week apart. You can send them a card or note at: 503 Allen St., Syracuse, NY 13210.
Had a nice note from Lou Martin along with his renewal, and wanted to be remembered to all. He is busy and hopes he is staying out of trouble!
I've been keeping in touch with Donna Walter this winter though email, and folks, she needs our thoughts and prayers. She is still on chemo, and some days are better than others. Another problem, optic neuritis, the result of the MS has developed and the last email indicated no signs of the treatments doing much for her. She still remains very positive and "upbeat, and says Bob is so understanding and doing a wonderful job of caring for her. Please send them both a note at: 327 Buena Vista Drive, Lillian, AL 36549, or email them at: dbwalter@gulftel.com (their winter one). She also spoke about how beautiful the flowers are this year, and am sure they help brighten her days.
Bill Szabo sent his renewal early as he was taking off for the sunny south and will be back the 2nd week in April. Hope you have a wonderful time, Bill, and take in a lot of all kinds of music and events.
I received word that our member Bill June suffered a stroke recently, but is making a good recovery. I know a card or a note would also help lift his spirits: 11750 Susan Halasz Lane, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. (Now that town is a mouthful). Bill and Rose have attended our festivals and Bill is a cousin of Donna Walter.
We had a big turnout at our February meeting and the music was great. A couple of reminders are needed: the Masons request no food or drink in the big meeting room, and if you bring flyers, music, etc, please take what is left home with you. I went to the monthly dinner the Masons have the 3rd Wednesday and found a box full of music and a folder with some in it left on the table. I moved them to a chair in the corner where hopefully no one will bother with them before the next meeting. Thanks folks for taking heed to these requests, as would hate to have someone's music thrown out when the rooms are cleaned.
This ramblin, is short as have been too busy to call people for news, and didn't receive or hear much to share with you. Thanks to those who sent me valentines, I enjoyed each one.
Until next time, did you know : It is impossible to lick your elbow, and 75% of you who read this will try?? Helen
