	RAMBLIN’ with Helen...

My visit this month will be a “short one”, and perhaps that is good, as there are several personal items of interest elsewhere in the newsletter.

FIRST – Our DEC. NEWSLETTER will be our “LAST TRIBUTE” to our dear friend Andy Pawlenko. I have already received a beautiful “Farewell Andy” written by Sandra Day, a dear friend of Andy's sister Mary and her husband Ted; a beautiful THANK YOU from Andy's daughter Deanna, and an item regarding Andy's mention at IBNA's Awards Nite. I hope many of you will share a thought or two, to help me make this a true tribute from CNYBA – PLEASE send your remarks by NOV. 20 th . Because the Dec. issue may well be the last one I do as your editor, I can think of no better way to retire than paying tribute to a most deserving and dear friend to us all. DO ACT, and I THANK YOU in advance.

On the bottom of James Reams and The Barnstormers Appearances, I mentioned his upgrading to a band membership. I have received a nice thank-you note back thanking me and expressed his desire that he also hoped to have the opportunity of entertaining us and saying hello to everyone soon.

THANK YOU to John Altman Jr., Leslie Lash and Ron OneSong for your monetary donations included with your renewals. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Dale and Sarah Lyndaker and Norm Hasman for your most generous donations. Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find how much every additional dollar helps so much. To Sam and Nancy Anderson, that SASE also saved a postage stamp!

WELCOME to NEW MEMBERS; Diane Laurent, Pat Marcel, Joyce Murphy and Mike Seemann. (The last three used the application blank from the Marcellus Bluegrass Program of Oct. 20 th .) THANKS to those folks for devoting two pages of information and an application blank for joining CNYBA.

Folks, I sincerely hope that you will make your reservations to our Annual Christmas Party with Mark Sostrin as soon as you get thru reading this reminder (I know from many years of taking them, how frustrating it is when they don't come in until the last minute, so make it easier for Mark).

Remember to give our president a call at: 315-258-9216 and VOLUNTEER to help with our first BREAKFAST BUFFET on our meeting day, SUN., NOV. 11 th . The new officers and board members are working at raising money to ensure an APPLE VALLEY BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL in 2008, and this is one way you can help. Speaking of that, I heard rumors after the meeting in Oct. that there was discussion at the Board Meeting of the possibility of not having one – I truly hope and pray this is only a rumor, and not the truth. (Too many of us have worked too hard for many years, to have this happen just when our 10 th one is coming up. Let's hope this rumor is put to rest, one way or the other at the Nov. meeting).

Well, folks, I've had my say, and don't have anything else from anyone else to report, so will end by wishing everyone a very Happy THANKSGIVING, spent with loved ones. Please say an extra prayer that day for all of our service men and women who won't be celebrating with families, and for those in California who have lost their homes and belongings by fire.
