Ramblin' with Helen By Helen Weldon
By the time you read this "short" Ramblin, 2004 will have arrived, and I hope each of you had a safe, healthy and fun filled Holiday Season. As you can see, our newsletter is only 4 pages due to the fact I had nothing new to put in, and couldn't justify "filling" four pages with "old news." I hope before the deadline (Jan. 20th) for the Feb. issue, some of you will have some news. I had a nice letter from Dora Jean Tupper, telling me the Christmas Party was nice and the "Abram Family" were fantastic, and expressed her regrets that I couldn't be there, as did Ira Williamson when he sent his renewal. I'm sorry too folks, but my thoughts were with you. When I received Ronald Oster's renewal, his wife Phyllis (I worked with her mother at the Cato Show Print) wrote they are leaving right after Christmas for the "sunny south" and will be back for Easter. Phyllis, thanks for your kind words regarding the Ramblin, and I hope you have a good winter. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL who sent me CHRISTMAS CARDS, and there were many!! Gert Rozelle, a longtime member, recently spent 5 days in the hospital after she blacked out and fell in her kitchen due to a rapid climb of her blood pressure. She hit her head on a cupboard door, resulting in several staples to close the cut. You are a very lucky lady, Gert, and we hope you'll be able to keep that blood pressure under control. When another longtime member, Dot Malouin sent her renewal, she sent several Iron On/Sew On Patches that she and Al never used. I gave them to Ray Crouch to sell at our table, and thanks for thinking of us Dot also for the generous donation included with your renewal. John Crouch recently spent a few days in the hospital, after too much exertion trying to clear his driveway of snow. Martha is in a nursing home, so am sure a cheerful card sent to: 4094 Co. Rt. 4, Oswego, N.Y. 13126 would help brighten their days. Thayle had her surgery, and after several days in the hospital is now home, and the last visit I had with her, she said her surgeon told her he felt it was successful. I talked to Thayle's daughter Roberta just before typing this, and today (Dec. 23rd) was one of her bad days not being able to keep anything down, but yesterday was a good one, when she enjoyed eating "up a storm". The two children of her daughter who passed away in the fall are going to be with them for the holidays, so hope they will "perk" her up. PLEASE KEEP HER IN YOUR PRAYERS, and a card or note now and then will help too. Well, folks, will let you know next month how it feels to be _'s of a century old however, I'm sure it won't be any different than it was the day before Jan. 3rd Until our next visit please keep well, be happy, and COME TO CATO FOR OUR MEETING ON JAN. 11th. (Helen)
Card of Thanks (THANK YOU to JOHN VANDUSEN) for picking up the December newsletter and bringing it to Cato and if you have to do the same for this one THANKS AGAIN!)
PLEASE NOTE: Due to a conflict with their Annual Meeting, there will be NO JAM SESSION in JANUARY at the WATERMAN CENTER. They will resume in February.
