On behalf of the Officers and Board members our wish for each of you is to enjoy a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous year in 2000; and may our CNYBA membership continue to grow, our web-site reach many and our 2nd Annual bluegrass Festival (see Festival page) prove to be bigger and better.
At our December 12, 1999 meeting our membership approved of Thursday-Sunday (August 3rd-6th, 2000) for our Festival and approved of our band lineup and budget. Gale Peabody will be doing the sound, Jerry Miller in charge of Vendors and Fleamarketers and Thayle Phair in charge of advance priced tickets. The next Festival planning meeting will be January 5th at the Rec. room at the Sr. Citizen Comples, Hillview Terrace, Cato, NY at 7:00PM. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
Special thanks to Bob Klaben, band chairman for CNYBA for his time and expense for contacting and contracting with bands for our monthly Jamborees and our Festival. Bob has contracted with Warrior River Boys to play for us at our April Jamboree, which will be held APRIL 30, so as not to interfere with Easter. Time and Place will be announced at a later date.
John Wilmot has offered to chair some workshops on our meeting dates, to be held from 12:00-12:45PM. Those people who want instruction/help on how to play their favorite musical instrument, please let John know.
Our Christmas Party was a huge success (see Christmas Party), with fantastic entertainment from Homestead Bluegrass, OneSong and our parkin' lot pickers; Dick DeNeve, Ray Crouch, Carol McGinly, Peter Hoysic, and Norman Hasman. Also thanks to Betty Humphrey for making name cards; Maryan VanDusen for favors and Thayle Phair for centerpieces (doorprizes).
Best wishes and prayers go out to: Mary Carr, Dave Cleaveland, Charles Hauer and Chickie Williams.
Thank you to Jim Treat and Roger Ward for monetary donations to our organization and thank you to Lois Artlip for her donation of cards and stamps. Snowbirds; Don Dear, Bert & Alice Mehlenbacker send their best as well as Ruth Holden.
