Membership Notes

It is with great sadness that we tell you that Marion LaMont passed away on September 5, 2016. Marion was a long time member of our Association and a great supporter of Bluegrass. For many years she could be found at the Friday night Marcellus Bluegrass Jam with her big smile, listening to the music and chatting with her friends. It would be impossible to count the number of meals she helped prepare for Bluegrass events and she managed to keep us all updated on what was happening in the Central NY Bluegrass world. She had a great concern and love for all her Bluegrass friends. She will be missed. Our prayers go out to all her friends and family.
From her obituary: Marion Lamont, 75, of Marcellus died Monday Sept. 5. Survived by son, Sean; 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 grandchildren. Memorial Service 6 pm Friday at the Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tpk. No calling hours. You can go to her obituary to sign the guest book, or send a sympathy card. There will also be a luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Marcellus at noon on Saturday.

Bibian Bouthillette: Sadly, Bibian passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016. She was a member of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association and the Oswego Valley Fiddlers Chapter for nearly a quarter of a century. She served as Vice President of the Oswego Valley Fiddlers. She was also a member of the Central New York Blue Grass Association. Fiddling was her main instrument of choice, but she also played other instruments, such as the piano, dulcimer and guitar. BiBi was instrumental in bringing old time fiddle tunes to the US from her place of birth, Canada. Bibian was also a seamstress and made many of her clothes for performances of music and square dance. One such outfit can be seen at the Fiddlers' Hall of Fame and Museum in Osceola, New York. She shared her talents with so many and taught people how to enjoy life through her music, song and dance.

Molly and the Badly Bent Bluegrass Boys will be recording their second CD this fall. We look forward to hearing it!
